Burgundy Carnation Stem

The carnation, rehabilitated. Deep, velvety burgundy with finely frilled petals, this stem reads as rich rather than retro — especially massed in odd numbers in a low bowl. We use it to thicken autumn arrangements between hydrangea heads, where its saturated colour does quiet, essential work. A modest stem that contributes a great deal more than it asks for in return.
