Autumn Burgundy Hydrangea

A full mop-head hydrangea drifting through burgundy, plum and green — the stem that does the heavy lifting in our autumn arrangements. Each petal carries its own shading, which is what makes it read as real from a step away. Three stems cut short in a squat stone vase is our house recipe; one alone earns its place in a bottleneck vase by the bed.
