Our story

We started Maison Delicious from our own kitchen table — because we couldn't find the things we actually wanted.

There is a version of home we have always had in our heads. Not a showroom. Not a catalogue. A house where the table is properly laid on a Tuesday evening, where the glasses feel substantial in the hand, where every object seems to have been chosen rather than simply bought. Getting there, we discovered, is harder than it sounds.

We are Chris and Helen. We live on the northern Irish coast, in a house we have spent years making feel like ours. Helen works full-time — she has done throughout the life of this shop — and somewhere between early mornings and the end of a long week, we kept finding ourselves circling the same frustration: the homewares that genuinely excited us were either wildly expensive, or they were beautiful in photographs and disappointing in person.

So we built something. We named it Maison Delicious after our own home, because that is exactly what it is — an extension of the way we live and the things we care about. We spent months sourcing pieces that passed what we think of as the kitchen-table test: would we actually put this on ours? Does the weight feel right? Is the finish something that will still look right in five years?

We obsess over the details in a way that our friends find slightly exhausting. The balance of a cocktail shaker. The depth of colour on a side plate. How a coupe glass sits between your fingers. We are not interior designers, and we are not pretending to be. We are two people who love having people round, who take hosting seriously without taking ourselves too seriously, and who have very strong opinions about tableware.

On a Friday evening — if the week has been particularly long — Helen's answer is an Aperol Spritz. It has become something of a ritual: the sound of ice in a glass, the colour of it catching the light, the particular feeling that the weekend has finally, properly, arrived. You will find that drink woven through more of this shop than is perhaps entirely dignified. We make no apologies.

Everything we stock has been chosen because we would buy it ourselves. That is the only rule we have ever applied, and it is the one we intend to keep.
